Baptism is not Necessary for Salvation

Esv scriptures that show that salvation is commanded but it will not stop you from entering heaven if you repented and put your faith in Jesus but die before you get baptized.  Some churches say you have to get baptized in a certain church or denomination to be saved, and this should be a huge warning sign to you.

We are justified by faith and not baptism.

Rom 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Eph 2:8 ” For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”

Saved by faith and not by ceremony

Rom 4:1-11 “What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,  and whose sins are covered;blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. 10 How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. 11 He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that
he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well,””

Baptism is commanded

Matt 28:16-20 “Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””

Baptism symbolizes our new life in Christ

Rom 6:3-5 “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

Acts 22:16 “And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’”
